Discovery Tour of Whirinaki
and Surrounding Country side

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kawerau.

We journey through Te Teko village to the Matahina Dam. The are many scenic views of farmland, animals, and native bush with the Te Urewera hills in the distance, before arriving at Minginui Village.

Time: 1 hour 30 mins.

Starting Point at Whirinaki Car park.
 

Walk approx 3 to 4 hours.
This easy loop track to Whirinaki Waterfalls, follows the Whirinaki River. There is excellent vantage points along the way. These falls can be heard from the distance.
Picnic Lunch at the Falls.Then walk back through the Whirinaki Forest.
 

We Continue your journey of discovery through Galatea Valley to visit Covell Estate Wines, and
sample the range of biogro certified wines.
 

Leaving here, going onto Matahina Dam (largest Dam in North Island ) we pick up
with Kiwi Jet Boat Tours.
This is a 1hr 15mins jet boat tour to Aniwhenia Falls.

After an exhilarating day outdoors, we return to Kawerau for a soak in our natural hot pools.
Return to accommodation for a tasty dinner and wine.
